One thirteen has been very enthusiastic this year, putting in a class effort for the various events. Although we have had a handful of conflicts along the way, we feel that our class has managed to overlook each other’s inabilities and imperfections to dissipate our disagreements. One of our tenacious memories was the Life Skills Camp, where we faced a few problems in decision making. Gradually, we learnt to deal with each other. By giving and taking, we managed to pull through. Although we have almost never won anything in interclass competitions, one thirteen has managed to clinch the third place in both the Cup and Plate events for Captain’s Ball this year. This has not only proven others wrong, it also proved us wrong. We entered this competition with the mindset of playing just for fun, and to get some exercise into our schedule. Little did we know that we stood just as big a chance as getting into the finals as the other teams. Many people tend to stereotype GEP students as unfit and feeble, so we hope we’ve changed their insolent bias.
Every class has its roots; their support and source of strength. Our monitress, Tessa Lim, has provided for us very well this year. Reliable and hardworking, she has set a good example, not just for our class but for other students as well. She maintains straight A1s as well as upholding her responsibilities and commitments. Tessa’s capability has inspired all of us in one thirteen; everyone wants to be a Tessa.
Our class has bonded well this year, from a shy class to a confident bunch of bananas. The teachers has played a major role in molding our minds to the shape of true Nanyang Girls, through their meticulous classes, these fine educators have helped us make remarkable improvement in terms of attitude and behavior.
